Switzerland were the first ever winners of Eurovision. They are also the most recent. In between, their story has real highs and lows - with the introduction of Celine Dion to the international stage being a real highlight. With Nemo taking victory last year, the competition is in Basel, home to Zoë Më, who started releasing music back in 2018. With one studio album under her belt, she has really impressed Eurovision fans with her sentimental touch and her moving covers in the build up to the competition. Whether she can repeat Nemo's success remains to be seen, but we caught up with her to find her intentions.
Hi, first and foremost, how are you?
Hello! Thank you, I am doing good - what about you?
I am very well, thank you. What an exciting 2025 so far... You must be thrilled with how it's playing out. What's been the highlight?
The highlight was having highlights everyday since being on this Eurovision journey.
We absolutely love Voyage. Tell us a little about the process behind the scenes in creating the song?
I feel like there is a lot of negativity in this world at the moment and that’s why we need to be kind to each other/support each other and spread love and positivity. That’s what inspired me to write Voyage. I invite everyone on a journey, where eventually you can see that flowers are more beautiful if we water them (metaphorically speaking of course).
Did you always intend the song for Eurovision?
Yes, but I would've also released it if it wouldn’t have been selected because it’s a message that I hold very dear.
Have you always been a big fan of Eurovision?
I discovered the beauty of Eurovision in depth when my friend Gjon’s Tears represented Switzerland back in 2021 and since then I’m a big fan!
Who is your favourite Eurovision entry of all time?
Portugal’s entry of 2017 Amar Pelos Dois.
Switzerland has had a very strong history at Eurovision. Do you have a favourite Swiss performance?
I arranged and recorded a swiss mëdley of all my favourites, you can find it on my socials :P
Performance-wise, Nemo’s Eurovision act was just incredible.
I admire their ability to deliver such powerful vocals while balancing on a moving surface.
Do you feel an additional pressure due to Nemo's win?
No, I feel incredibly lucky to be able to represent my country in my own country and especially in Basel, the city where I was born.
Who do you feel is your stiffest competition?
I see the other artists not as competitors but as talented musicians that are contributing to this beautiful party that is Eurovision.
What can we expect from your Basel performance?
My creative director is Theo Adams, who directed the UK last year. I can only say that it is going to be radical.
What is your Eurovision ambition?
Winning people’s hearts with my music and taking them on a journey with me.
If you could record with one other Eurovision artist, who would you work with?
First, I covered Maman by Louane and then she covered my song...so I think it should be time for a duet.
And lastly, aside from Eurovision, what other 2025 plans do you have?
I can’t wait to grow as an artist and meet my Eurovision fans when I hit the different stages during summer and autumn.
