From Christmas songs to get you feeling festive to power ballads you can sing your heart out to, there are a whole range of songs that have taken the crown for being a Christmas number one over the years.

So, which Christmas number ones have truly stood the test of time and have racked up the most streams on Spotify?

At Betway, they've crunched the numbers to reveal which chart-topping festive bangers are getting the most plays over on the music-streaming platform Spotify.

1. ‘Perfect’ Ed Sheeran (2017) - 2.7 billion streams

Topping the table as the most streamed Christmas number one is Perfect by Ed Sheeran with a favourable 2,720,489,371 plays on Spotify. Whilst the song isn’t exactly a Christmas tune - the love song that is adored by many and has been used more than its fair share for first dances at weddings - topped the charts in December 2017 and racked up a significant amount of plays.

2. ‘Bohemian Rhapsody’ Queen (1975) - 2.3 billion streams

Queen’s iconic Bohemian Rhapsody bagged second spot as the second most streamed Christmas number one with an admirable 2,311,994,380 plays. Although the song doesn’t immediately bring festive cheer to mind, the song first landed number one in 1975 and later again after the death of lead singer Freddie Mercury in 1991. And with so many streams on Spotify, there’s no denying that Bohemian Rhapsody holds a special place in people’s hearts.

Singing her way into third place with one of the most iconic power ballads of all time is Whitney Houston with I Will Always Love You, boasting 633,335,912 plays.
