The Hepworth Wakefield Ceramics Fair – the go-to place to buy and explore all things pottery in the north – returns to the event space at Tileyard North, the refurbished mill opposite the gallery, on Saturday 28 and Sunday 29 June, 10am-5pm.
Visitors will be able to buy work directly from 75 emerging and established ceramicists and potters working in both contemporary and traditional ceramics, from homeware, tableware and jewellery to unique sculptural pieces, with a range of price points and styles to suit all tastes.
This year’s event will welcome new and previous stallholders including Pottery West, the ceramics studio of husband and wife makers Catherine and Matt West who specialise in the design and production of wheel-thrown tableware; Harrogate-based Eren Armitage whose passion for ceramics was sparked by her Japanese heritage and love for the English countryside; Sheffield’s Mike Scown, whose interest in ceramics has always been in the chemistry of the glazes and the transformative power of the firing process; and Wakefield-based maker Hannah Way, who makes 70s-inspired homeware specialising in candlestick design. The full list of stallholders can be viewed at hepworthwakefield.org
Across the weekend, families can create their own pots in the Clay Studio drop-in workshop and with activities in the exhibition spaces, learning studios and garden, budding artists are guaranteed to be kept busy. Family activities are free for Wakefield district residents and under 18s, or free with an exhibition ticket which are discounted all weekend. Visitors can also enjoy brunch, lunch or a slice of cake and a coffee in The Hepworth Wakefield café, street food from Gryz Pizza and Vegan Spice in The Hepworth Wakefield Garden, or bring a picnic to enjoy in the sunshine. Sheffield-based Fennell’s Ice Cream will be popping-up with their ice cream cart all weekend too.
During the Print Fair weekend, exhibition tickets are discounted so that visitors can experience all that The Hepworth Wakefield has to offer this summer including a major retrospective of pioneering ceramic artist Elizabeth Fritsch; Helen Chadwick: Life Pleasures – named by Art Fund, The Guardian and The Times as one of the best exhibitions to see in 2025; and the ★★★★★ (The Guardian) exhibition, Caroline Walker: Mothering. Exhibition entry is free for Members of the gallery, Wakefield District residents and under 18s.
Alice Adams, Events Manager at The Hepworth Wakefield, said: 'The Hepworth Wakefield Ceramics Fair demonstrates the wealth of craftsmanship and artistic talent in the Yorkshire region and beyond. We are delighted to be able to support many talented ceramicists and potters and introduces our audiences to a breadth of makers, as well as providing a fantastic day out at the gallery.'
Entry to the Ceramics Fair is £3.50 or free for Members and under 18s. A Ceramics Fair and exhibition ticket bundle is available for £10 – a saving of £6.50. Exhibition entry is free all year round for Members, Wakefield District residents and under 18s.
