Swedish rock group Solence, mix rock, pop, electronic and alternative on this diverse third album.
No two tracks remain the same. The listener not knowing what is coming next which is half the fun of enjoying this eclectic album.
The album kicks off with
Rain Down with some meaty guitar riffs leading into a melodic chorus. If the band were looking to get their music played on mainstream radio this would be the track that would appeal to a wider audience.
Best For You sounds to have had an influence from
Linkin Park where a mix of electronic and rock mix together to create an intoxicating sound. It might have been a cold December as the lyric details with the track painting a dark and cold atmosphere.
Demons continues with a euphonic chorus though the song appears to go off into a different heavier direction that seems to be aimed more at the mosh pit, sometimes having so many styles in one song does not always work.
Waves comes with an unnamed female vocalist who appears from nowhere providing some light and shade to this epic number, the orchestration here brings to mind
Within Temptation and
Evanescence.
The album closes with the seven-minute
Blood Sweat Tears which builds onto a crescendo taking the listener on an aural journey that is a shamelessly loud as ever. Tracks this long are usually associated with prog rock groups though this epic number allows the excellent musicianship within Solence to shine.
The album will take a few plays to register as there is so much to discover, those with patience will be fully rewarded.
