Christmas Musical Spectacular Announced For Manchester!
This December, Manchester steps into the spotlight.
A breathtaking Christmas Musical Spectacular arrives at the iconic AO Arena, transforming one of Europe’s greatest live venues into a powerful celebration of music, emotion and festive magic. Blending world-class performance with the spirit of the season, this is a show designed not just to entertain, but to move, uplift and bring people together.
At its heart, this production reimagines the festive live experience.
Audiences can expect soaring singalong moments, genuine laughter, and deeply emotional performances, all brought to life through some of the greatest musical theatre anthems and Christmas songs ever written. It is a shared experience, one that invites the entire arena to feel every note, every lyric, every moment.
Leading the line-up is the incomparable Michael Ball OBE, a two-time Olivier Award winner and one of the most celebrated voices in British musical theatre. With a career spanning decades at the very highest level, and millions of Christmas albums sold, his presence alone brings a true sense of occasion. His ability to command both the grandest stages and the most intimate moments ensures a performance that is as powerful as it is personal.
Joining them is Tony Award nominee Keala Settle, whose powerhouse performance in The Greatest Showman made her a global sensation. The film’s iconic anthem This Is Me became an Oscar-nominated hit, and her voice, defined by strength, vulnerability and fearless delivery, brings a raw, emotional intensity that resonates long after the final note.
Alongside them, a world-class cast of performers brings further depth, experience and theatrical brilliance to the stage. Ben Forster, renowned for his commanding vocals and powerful portrayal of the Phantom in The Phantom of the Opera, delivers performances filled with intensity and emotional precision. Kerry Ellis, one of the most celebrated leading ladies of the West End and Broadway, brings her unmistakable vocal strength and storytelling ability, honed through iconic roles in Wicked and Les Misérables.
They are joined by Alice Fearn, a performer of exceptional range and emotional intelligence, widely recognised for her leading roles and her ability to connect deeply with audiences, alongside Hugh Maynard, whose magnetic stage presence and rich vocal tone have made him a standout across major productions. Completing this exceptional ensemble is Kelly Mathieson, whose elegance, control and versatility add further texture and balance to the production, ensuring every musical moment is delivered with clarity and finesse.
Supporting the production is an outstanding collective of emerging and established talent, including performers from Caldwell Theatre School, adding further depth, energy and a strong connection to the next generation of musical theatre excellence.
Together, this remarkable company of performers elevates the show beyond a concert, creating a layered, dynamic and truly immersive theatrical experience. The evening is hosted by Aled Jones, whose unmistakable voice and festive connection bring warmth, familiarity and a sense of occasion.
The musical force behind the production is equally compelling. The acclaimed Manchester Camerata and the outstanding Manchester Vocal Ensemble combine to create a rich, immersive sound that fills the arena with energy, atmosphere and emotion. Together, they transform the space into something far beyond a concert, a fully realised musical experience.
Positioned as one of Europe’s largest festive productions, this two-night spectacular reinforces Manchester’s place as a leading Christmas destination. With its world-famous Christmas markets drawing visitors from across the UK and beyond throughout December, the city already stands as a hub for seasonal celebration. This event builds on that momentum, offering families and visitors a new reason to gather, to celebrate, and to experience something truly special together.
This is Manchester at its most expressive.
A city built on creativity, culture and musical legacy now welcomes a production that reflects its spirit. From the scale of the arena to the calibre of talent on stage, every element has been crafted to deliver something unforgettable at the most magical time of year.
