Caught In The Web – Mimi Webb Live

Mimi Webb
Mimi Webb
British singer/songwriter Mimi Webb rose to fame via the TikTok social media platform and has recently released her debut album – Amelia. Performing an intimate show at the Manchester Academy with only a keyboard player and guitarist gave her an opportunity to discover a delicate and crisp side to her songs.

Whilst there might not anything too remarkable about Webb the power of social media cannot be denied making you wonder if she still would have risen to fame without the aid of TikTok.

Roles Reversed and Last Train to London stood out as being her best songs – the latter would make a good choice for a single.

A short Q&A session from the audience did not really reveal anything new beyond the obvious questions such as Who Was Your Biggest Influence? (“my mum”) and Which singer from the past would you like to being back? (“Amy Winehouse”).

Her voice recalls singers such as Adele and Emeli Sande and with the right choice of songs her career should emulate those artists.

Ending her short set with a paired back version of House On Fire the fans gave one last big cheer as Webb left the stage in a blaze of glory.
