Performers from across the North East and around the UK have begun competing for roles at Kynren – The Storied Lands, a major new attraction set to redefine how audiences experience history, myth and legend.

The two-day audition process for Britain’s first live-action storytelling park attracted dozens of elite performers, with demand so high that organisers have had to create a waiting list for those still hoping to take part.

Launching in July 2026, Kynren – The Storied Lands is a first-of-its-kind attraction in the UK built entirely around large-scale live performance and immersive storytelling.

The park brings history, myth and legend to life through shows, physical theatre and spectacle, positioning live performance at the heart of the visitor experience.

Anna Warnecke, CEO of Kynren, said the scale and quality of interest reflected the ambition of the project.

“The energy in the room across the whole weekend was extraordinary,” she said.

“Following overwhelming interest, we narrowed performers down to 60 successful applicants who were invited to audition over two days, with people travelling from across the country.

“We were genuinely blown away by the professionalism and range of talent on show,” she added.

Auditions were led by Anna alongside Associate Creative Director Charlotte Boissant, supported by a specialist panel with expertise in stunt work, parkour, combat and acting.

Performers demonstrated high level acrobatics, stage combat, archery, fire performance, stilt walking and parkour, alongside powerful acting, strong vocal work and classical dance training.

Afternoon sessions tested adaptability and physicality, with candidates taught combat techniques and asked to perform them under direction, allowing the panel to assess stage presence, discipline and performance intelligence as well as raw ability.

Anna said the auditions reflected the creative scale of the park.

“We saw everything from high-flying stunts and complex combat work to deeply emotive performances and moments of real comedy,” she said.

“The diversity of skills, from ballet to outstanding vocals, was exceptional. It shows the calibre of performers who want to be part of this project,” she added.

Successful candidates will join the professional cast delivering the live shows and immersive experiences that form the core of Kynren – The Storied Lands.

Rehearsals begin in June, ahead of the park’s public opening in July.
