Louis Pearl The Amazing Bubble Man
Louis Pearl has been thrilling audiences around the world for nearly 30 years with the art, magic, science and fun of bubbles, and judging from his confident, mesmerising early afternoon show, a master of his craft.
Perfectly timed entertainment at the end of the Easter holidays, a last treat before returning to school, the auditorium was packed with families eager to see this showman’s spell binding bubble tricks.
I’d seen this amazing act at the Edinburgh Festival last year, and knew my young grandchildren would relish seeing this show as much as I had done; indeed, he inspired us all to visit York's Museum Gardens afterwards, creating our own bubble fun with newly purchased bubble-blowing toys ( designed by Louis many years ago).

Bubble Man creating Caterpillar.
This amazing Bubble Man created an instant rapport with his audience, his passion for bubbles coming over loud and clear to young and old alike. Louis explored the breath-taking dynamics of bubbles, combining comedy and artistry with audience participation, ( my sides ached with laughing, particularly when adults got in on the stage fun too ) laying on a feast of fabulous bubble tricks to everyone’s delight.
There were square bubbles, bubbles inside bubbles, fighting bubbles with plastic swords ( my grandson’s favourite part of the show ),fog-filled bubbles, bubble volcanoes, caterpillar bubbles, disco bubbles… you get the picture.
By the end of this seventy minute show everyone’s spirits were soaring just like the amazing bubble creations we’d seen crafted before our very eyes by this experienced showman, who was also the master of witty asides, and improvisation when it was called for.
It was wonderful to all share in the enthusiasm and glee as an audience; good too for youngsters to see that Louis didn’t always get the results he wanted at his first attempt – he kept on trying until he succeeded, and we were willing him on all the way.
A pearl of a show that will never lose its shine however many times you see it.
