Yorkshire Rock Legends Coming To Bradford For Yorkshire Day 2025

Rock royalty from Saxon and Terrorvision will play a unique gig at Nightrain on Friday 1 August to celebrate Yorkshire Day in the UK City of Culture 2025.

Graham Oliver’s Army will headline the ‘Monsters of Yorkshire Rock’ gig, with Tony Wright, singer with Bradford legends Terrorvision, in support. ‘Yorkshire’s Finest’ Iron Maiden tribute act, Ey Up Maiden, will open the show in style.

Graham Oliver was a founding member and lead guitarist in legendary heavy metal band, Saxon from the 1970s through to the 1990s. Saxon, formed in the 1970s in Barnsley, were pioneers of the New Wave of British Heavy Metal movement and are most famous for metal anthems such as Princess of the Night and Denim & Leather. They have over 100 million streams on Spotify alone and sold over 20 million records worldwide. Since leaving Saxon, Oliver has toured and released albums under his own Saxon brand and as a solo artist. He currently tours with his long-time band Graham Oliver’s Army playing classic songs from the Saxon back catalogue and more.

Tony Wright needs no introduction to Bradford rock fans as lead singer of local legends, Terrorvision. While Terrorvision are famous nationally for classic hits like Tequila and Oblivion, they’re riding high again after the release of their latest album, We Are Not Robots last year. Tony continues to perform and write as a solo artist, most recently with his album, The Anti Album, released in 2022. He returns to Nightrain as a solo artist having played the venue with Terrorvision previously.

Opening the show will be ‘Yorkshire’s Finest’ Iron Maiden tribute act, Ey Up Maiden, performing classic hits by Iron Maiden with a decidedly Yorkshire accent!

Keith Tempest, venue owner at Nightrain, is delighted to welcome such top Yorkshire rock royalty to Bradford for Yorkshire Day, “Monsters of Rock was a legendary festival celebrating all things rock n’ roll, so what better way to celebrate Bradford hosting Yorkshire Day during our year as UK City of Culture than a night of classic Yorkshire Rock!”

Monsters of Yorkshire Rock is part of a wider set of celebrations taking place across the district on the weekend of 1 August as Bradford & Ilkley host Yorkshire Day 2025. Bradford, the UK City of Culture, will welcome Lord Mayors from across Yorkshire for a civic ceremony and parade, with activities taking place in Ilkley throughout the weekend. The first concert to take place at the new Bradford Live venue will also be a Yorkshire Day celebration. Titled ‘i>Yorkshire Calling, it will see the Yorkshire Symphony Orchestra performing with acclaimed poet, Ian McMillan and the BBC Bantam of the Opera choir.
