Toyah And Robert Fripp Impressive Musical Legacies

Toyah and Robert Fripp boast their own impressive musical legacies; however, as a result of a lockdown silly video, the married couple saw their personal partnership thrust into the viral domain. Alongside the likes of Sophie Ellis-Bextor and Joe Wicks, they became an escapist treat during one of the toughest periods the world has known in recent years. Their sheer zest for life and laughter puts smiles on faces around the world, and their popularity has only increased in the aftermath. While Toyah made a fleeting appearance on Strictly earlier this year, the duo have enjoyed two Glastonbury appearances in subsequent years and even joined Billy Idol on tour. As the holiday season approaches, they have embarked on a short UK tour to unite their devoted fan base for a memorable sing-along.

Before the duo and their band take centre stage at Wolverhampton's Wulfrun Hall, Frazer Lepford makes an understated entrance. Dressed in jeans, a hoody, and a cap and armed with a well-loved guitar, he launches into a Buffalo Springfield cover that showcases the rich depth of his soulful vocal before blowing the audience away with an overview of his own lyrically compelling and emotionally charged compositions. With an album due for release in 2025, it is clear that by the end of his set, he has an audience ready and waiting to pre-order.

After a brief pause, Toyah and Robert Fripp, alongside their glammed-up band, are ready to share the Christmas spirit with their loving audience. Armed with a wealth of industry insight and a touching array of personal stories, the love that exists between the couple who have been married for 38 years is evident throughout their step. With Fripp often correcting Toyah's stories, the secret smiles and touching interactions that have sent their videos viral translate faultlessly to the stage.

While the set veers away from Toyah's own back catalogue, the audience is treated to faultless renditions of It's A Mystery, Echo Beach, and I Want To Be Free that are surrounded by impeccable covers of Blondie's Heart of Glass, Billy Idol's Rebel Yell, and a truly joyous rendition of Slade's Merry Xmas Everybody. As the set closes with Joan Jett's I Love Rock N Roll, it is clear why the duo has won the hearts of the world. A truly enjoyable night of irrepressible joy flew by and was the perfect start to the festive week ahead.
