Tom Grennan Shines On His First Arena Tour

The one thing that propelled Tom Grennan to chart success and BRIT award nominations was the quality of his songs. When he released his album Evering Road in 2021 it signalled the start of a bigger picture.

The next logical step was to play an arena tour though some questioned whether Grennan would have the personality, charisma and allure to fill a 20,000 seater arena, however the likeable singer packed out the Manchester arena with ease.

There is a new album on the way, What Ifs and Maybes with several of the new tracks given their first live performances in a rousing ninety minute show. Rather than his standard pop/dance numbers another side of his personality was revealed with You Are Not Alone and This Side Of The Room two tender ballads, the former dedicated to a childhood friend who passed away, the latter accompanied only by a piano. The stark and sombre environment provided an unanticipated moment.

After a slow start things began to ignite with This Is the Place along with his other big hits Lionheart (Fearless) and By Your Side.

As family photos showed on the video screens, rather than seem a contrived move the feeling was more of a personal, unassuming one as if we were all one big family sharing the moment.

There are not many concerts where the support act returns to the stage to share the limelight again. Gracey danced around the stage as she shared the stage on Not Over Yet with Grennan seemingly happy for her to take to the spotlight.

Despite the confetti cannons, fireworks and tight band Grennan would still have shone without any gimmicks or distractions.

The evening concluded on a high with Little Bit of Love. The feeling had been mutual on a night where Grennan had provided a night to remember on an affirmative and defining performance.
