Skipton Music New Season Starts Next Week

Skipton Music unveils its new season on Tue Sep 30th with a much-anticipated concert of music by new and established composers performed by two highly acclaimed musicians, violinist Fenella Humphreys and pianist Martin Roscoe.

Fenella, winner of the 2023 BBC Music Magazine Premiere Recording Award and renowned for her musical versatility, excels in both solo and chamber music performance. She regularly premieres new works and is heard frequently on major classical music radio stations.

Martin is a pianist with over 50 years’ experience. He has performed over 100 concertos worldwide, collaborated with leading orchestras and conductors, and made over 600 broadcasts. It is a particular pleasure to welcome Martin to Skipton Music, following his cancelled performance during the COVID pandemic.

The music in the concert covers a period of 200 years, with a remarkable sonata by Mendelssohn composed at the age of 14, through Prokofiev, Honegger, Dorothy Howell and Stravinsky, to two present-day composers Caroline Shaw and the composer of the music for War Horse, Adrian Sutton.
