Silver Screen Weekly - What's Coming Up At The Cinema From Friday 11th October

Our film critic and media correspondent has been looking and trawling the new releases. Here's what you can see on the big screen this week.

From Friday 11th October

Transformers One (PG)
This animated feature tells the Transformers story from the very beginning, as friends Optimus Prime (Chris Hemsworth) and Megatron (Brian Tyree Henry) are as close as brothers, but the journey they are about to embark on, will change their fates and the fate of Cybertron forever. Critically acclaimed as the greatest Transformers film to ever hit the big screen, this beautifully animated and written film offers up exciting action but more than that some very unexpected emotional drama that is an absolute treat to fans of this hit franchise of all ages.

Salem’s Lot (15)
This long awaited adaptation of Stephen King’s chilling story comes from the makers of The Conjuring Universe. The story sees author Ben Mears (Lewis Pullman) return to his childhood home of Jerusalem’s Lot, searching for inspiration for his next book, but soon discovers that the people there are changing and bloodthirsty vampires have overrun the town. A classic story that has long awaited the cinema treatment (the original previous screen incarnation was a TV film), horror hounds will not want to miss this one.

Terrifier 3 (18)
Art the Clown is back in Damien Leone’s acclaimed third film in his indie hit turned slasher icon horror series. After taking the gore and violence to extremes the last two times, Terrifier 3 sets a new benchmark for the genre, as Art is nastier than ever, as he returns at Christmas time to make things ho ho horrific for the survivors of his previous murderous spree. Being called the nastiest film ever made, passed as uncut in the States and making some audiences faint or feel queasy at test screenings, Terrifier 3 could well be one of the years - heck decades - defining horror films. Dare you see what Art has up his sleeve next?!
