Rose May Alaba. An All-Round Encompassing Talent

Rose May Alaba
Rose May Alaba
Rose May Alaba grew up in Vienna with her Philippino mother, Nigerian father, and her older brother David. From the age of six her talent became obvious as she emulated her idols Whitney and Christina.

Over the years since, she has developed into an all-round encompassing talent: not only is she a singer – she is also an excellent musician, dancer and some would even describe her as an influencer and ‘fashionista’.

She is an aspirational figure to her peers and her fans as a strong, confident, visually vibrant and empowered young woman and artist. We caught up with her and asked, "What song always makes you..."

Smile

Jealous by Fireboy

I just love the soft Melodies he uses and the lyrics to it. He is saying "I'm
getting jealous, don't wanna see you with anybody!" What girl doesn't want
her man to feel like this.

Contemplate

Another Story by Burna Boy ft. M.anifest

Burna Boy has the gift to tell stories about the struggles of Nigeria society. It
does this from an African Perspective, which is very much needed. It is
important to be able to tell your own stories without someone controlling the
narrative. He definitely lives up to the name African giant as he empowers
African people worldwide.

Cry (in a good way tho)

Oceans by Hillsong United

It calms my soul. This song strengthens me every single time. I'm a believer of
God and listening to worship songs is one of the ways i use to stay in
contact or talk to him.

Laugh

Call Me Maybe by Carly Rae Jepsen

My Family and I used to do funny Videos of this song. Just like you see it on
social media when the song went viral. To me, it's still one of the funniest
songs.

Want to work out

Sicko Mode by Travis Scott ft. Drake

I love this song for working out. It gets me in beast mode. Listening to music
while I work out is essential and also to what music I work out. It Keeps me
going.

Reminisce

Like Me by Bow Wow & Ciara

I remember my brother and I used to be at home by ourselves and do a mini
Playback show where he was Bow Wow and I, Ciara. They definitely used to be
on of our idols growing up. So this song will always have a special part in my
heart.

Relax

To Zion by Lauryn Hill

Lauryn Hill is my Idol. I love her so much. This song in particular is my all time
favourite song. The way she just speaks and tells the story in this song is
amazing. It's a beautiful song where she pours out her love and prayers for her
son, Zion. I think it's kinda written as a letter to her son which I think is really
beautiful.

Feel Determined

Survivor by Destiny's Child

This song always helped me to not be afraid of being on big stages, sing and
perform in front of Strangers, or to care what people think of me regarding me
being an artist. I used to struggle a lot with anxiety of what people might think
of me but music and this song always helped me to cope with it.

Dance

Rora by Reekado Banks

No matter where I am or what I'm doing at that moment, if this song comes up, I am dropping everything. haha The beat, the Melodies just triggers something in me where I just can't sit still.
