Musical Motivation: Izakman

Israeli solo artist Izakman (aka Itamar Isaak) released his first single ‘Cyber Love’ last month. The award-winning animator has already attracted the attention of his local music industry with his charasmatic stage presence and enigmatic style. We caught up with him to find out what songs make him...

Smile

Small Faces – Lazy Sunday Afternoon

This groovy tune is very dear to me. It has a great attitude and character that I identify with. The whole album is pretty awesome too. Anything quirky makes me smile.

Contemplate

Gong – Wise Man in Your Heart

This is a fantastic song about intuition and self-discovery. This song always reminds me that the best teacher, the best healer and the best lover is the self. The real guru is the one who looks through your own eyes. It’s a calm and mellow track the goes deep when you are attentive.

Cry

Dead Can Dance – The Host of Seraphim

This is one of the most intense expressive vocal performances I’ve ever heard. I don’t know what is it about but I always get a strong sense of anguish and despair, but also hope and transcendence whenever I listen to it.

Laugh

Frank Zappa – Why Does It Hurt When I Pee

There are a lot of hilarious songs that I love by acts like Monty Python and Bonzo Dog band, but this one is bloody outrageous.

Want to work out

Talvin Singh – Butterfly

I used to listen to this a lot while running. For Sup-surfing I listen to Shpongle.

Reminisce

Pink Floyd – Remember

This one holds a very personal place in my heart. Always takes me back to the time when I just started discovering music. Most of my friends at school grew up on Red Hot Chili Peppers, learning guitar to show off playing their songs. I was more into the introvert psychedelic stuff.

Relax

Annabel ( Lee ) – I Will Lead Us

I discovered this project not too long ago. This foggy tune has beautiful calming vocals and a hypnotic guitar tone I can listen to forever.

Feel Determine

Nektar – Recycle

I actually got know this band by meeting them in person! The song is taken from a concept album about the environment. Kind of makes me wanna go out to save the world.

Dance

Funkadelic – Super Stupid

Put that on full volume, and I promise to beat the hell out of the dance floor.
