Internationally Acclaimed Organist Simon Gledhill To Perform At Victoria Hall's Historic Wurlitzer

Theatre organ enthusiasts are in for a treat as internationally renowned organist Simon Gledhill takes to the stage at Victoria Hall Saltaire's famous Wurlitzer pipe organ on Sunday, October 12th at 2:30pm.

The Halifax-born musician's journey began at age six with the piano accordion before progressing to classical organ and piano studies. His path to theatre organ stardom was set when he encountered Ernest Broadbent at Blackpool's Tower Ballroom, igniting what would become a lifelong passion for the instrument.

Gledhill's impressive career took off early when he claimed the Northern Young Theatre Organist of the Year title in 1982. This success led to recordings for BBC Radio 2's 'The Organist Entertains' and made him the inaugural recipient of the Cinema Organ Society's prestigious Ian Sutherland Award. His international recognition peaked in 1997 when he was named American Theatre Organ Society Organist of the Year, later earning induction into their Hall of Fame in 2016.

The accomplished performer has captivated audiences across four continents, touring extensively throughout Europe, America, Australia, and New Zealand. His reputation extends beyond live performance through several album releases that showcase his versatility and technical mastery.

Beyond entertaining audiences, Gledhill is deeply committed to preserving theatre organ heritage, actively participating in conservation efforts to maintain these historic instruments for future generations.
