In Conversation With Another State

Introducing Another State: the UK’s first ever pop/country male vocal harmony group. Their debut single, All You Need, is out now and promises to captivate audiences worldwide. In order to learn more, we caught up with them.

Hello there, How are you all?

We're great, thanks!

For those who are not familiar, tell us about another state... How did you all get together?

Paul: Sean put it all together.

Sean: I was a member of Jack Pack, a band that reached the finals of BGT in 2014, for a period of ten years. I had an amazing experience, but decided I wanted to do something different, and so I left the group to start my own project. I knew Paul and Dave from the singing circuit, so I asked them to join the group. I had been searching for the final member for some time, and I eventually found James online. We all met together and immediately gelled, which led to James joining the group.

Your debut single is All You Need. How did you select it as your intro to the world?

Dave: We've been working on our material, and it was difficult to actually decide upon which was to be the lead single. In the end, we chose All You Need because it has a feel-good summer vibe and is uplifting.

What are your ambitions for the single?

James: We hope to create music that truly resonates with people. I hope it captures the emotions and experiences that many of us go through, forging a deep connection with listeners and telling a story through this song. I hope we evoke feelings that are both personal and universal, making each listener feel seen and understood. Our goal is for this track to be more than just music; we want it to be a shared experience that brings people together.



How typical is it of who Another State is?

Paul: We don't think of our music as typical, but what we can say is that this song gives people an introduction to each of us individually as well as the group sound we are aiming for. We feel our fusion of classic storytelling through song with a contemporary country influence is pretty unique.

If you had to file yourself between two artists, who would they be?

Sean: Our sound is quite unique, as we're the UK's first pop/country vocal harmony act. I wouldn't say we could compare ourselves to other acts, but we definitely are inspired by country artists such as Keith Urban, Luke Combs, and Morgan Wallen.

Can we expect live shows soon?

Paul: Well, that would be telling. We're working on some amazing projects as we speak, and we can't wait to announce them soon.

Lastly, if you could achieve one thing by the end of 2024, what would it be?

Sean: We'd love for Another State to be established and have our music heard worldwide. We feel our music can resonate with a wide spectrum of listeners, and we are also really excited for what can come in the years after.
