For a rather long time it was difficult for Miley Cyrus to shake off Hannah Montana. While her first three solo albums all showcased her distinctive vocal and pop potential, it wasn't until 2013's Bangerz that she really became a global obsession in her own right. That being said, every move she has made since then has been excitingly unpredictable. Having owned the #1 spot on the singles charts with the brilliant empowerment anthem Flowers, fans already feel they have an inkling into what Endless Summer Vacation may have to offer.

A post-divorce album, 30 year old Miley is no stranger to allowing her audience into her world, but on Endless Summer Vacation, it feels like she is at her most raw, most real. Although it would have been easy to focus on the challenges of her personal troubles, Endless Summer Vacation is actually a defiant, uplifting exploration of rediscovering who you really are.

With the sound of Flowers showing the shift from the 80s rock inspired sound that dominated 2020"s Plastic Hearts, this is not an era that is completely lacking in the shape of the album as a body whole. Violet Chemistry certainly benefits from drawing inspiration from the period, with it marrying the 80s and noughties for pure anthem heaven.

The equally epic upbeat moment that is River is effortlessly the album's highlight. However, reigning it all in and slowing it down for the tender Wonder Woman provides Miley with her other crowning glory.

Versatile, powerful, insightful and uplifting. Endless Summer Vacation shows how Miley continues to grow as an artist. A definitive moment in her already extensive, impressive career.
