With Kate Bush back in the spotlight following the viral success of Running Up That Hill following its Stranger Things placement, it is fair to say that the music world is probably on the look out for a 'new' Kate Bush. Well, they aren't going to have to look for too long given the quality of the debut EP, Shooting With Lives, from London's Louise Havell.

While far from a copycat of Bush's sound, Havell boasts the ethereal nature and phenomenal vocal prowess of the record breaking artist. Throw into the mix a touch of Imogen Heap, a splash of Fiona Apple, a hint of Martina Topley-Bird, a shake of Tori Amos and healthy dose of originality and you arrive at the eclectic mix that formulates the six track collection.

The haunting opener Everything's Gone has a jazz undercurrent with a shade of Shelby Starner, it's followed by the spacey bliss of You Take Me Home and the Jem-dream Solina Ferriane, which is an effortless highlight. The ethereal Falling In To Blue follows before the lush For Me, which should see Havell rewarded with plenty of airtime (and maybe even a John Lewis Christmas ad sync). The title track closes proceedings with a return to the soul-stirring.

As debut efforts go, Havell wears her influences on her sleeve, but doesn't allow them to stifle her own creativity. This is a strong introduction to a very intriguing artist.
