Myles Sanko returns with one of the best albums of his career to date. While his contemporaries, such as Gregory Porter and Michael Buble, are in the spotlight basking in mainstream success, Sanko remains largely unknown outside of his fanbase, which seems unfair given the quality of music on offer here on
Let It Unfold.
The album marks a pivotal moment in Sanko’s musical journey, showcasing his steadfast dedication to his craft as an independent artist and visionary. Let It Unfold invites listeners into a deeply personal exploration, using music as a form of therapy to confront childhood traumas and inspire future dreams, all while radiating hope and resilience.
Drawing from his love for soul, jazz, and hip-hop, as well as the rhythmic influences of his Ghanaian heritage, Sanko masterfully fuses these genres to create a fresh and distinctive contemporary sound. His thoughtful songwriting infuses each track with emotional depth and authenticity, offering a new level of artistic expression.
Always believing in a better world,
Dream Chaser looks to better days ahead, although he informs the listener that he cannot help holding onto the past.
I Feel the Same begins with a spoken introduction, leading into a seductive jazz-tinged number that captivates you.
Working it Out is probably the best introduction to Sanko; like most, he is still figuring out which direction to follow, but in this case, the journey is definitely upward.
The song
More Than This evokes memories of intimate evenings spent in a small jazz club, where the intimacy of the song perfectly fits in. While the track is searching for something better, the music on this sultry and seductive ballad is as good as it gets.
If you only make one musical discovery this year, make it with Myles Sanko, whose new album gets even better with each listen
