It has been a great year for Canadian Indie band Alvvays, with the success of their album attracting attention and a wider audience itching to see them play.
A year ago, Alvvays opened the show for US band Real Estate at Shepherds Bush Empire in London. With a capacity of 2,000 people, Alvvays are now set to end their upcoming UK tour in style with their biggest ever headline show.
The 13 date UK tour is an extension of their eye opening set at Glastonbury in the summer, where they showcased a defiant set, up against the mighty Lionel Ritchie.
Self-titled debut album, released on Trasngressive Records, made a distinct impression when it hit the shelves last year, with instant guitar pop classics such as ''Archie Marry Me'' and ''Adult Diversion''.
The album has also nominated for the Canada Polaris Prize alongside Caribou and Drake - a fitting compliment for an excellent album of music.
Their catchy pop songs are bursting with melodic and melancholic vocals, but are the polar opposite of shoe gazing music. They are uplifting; partly due to lead singer Molly Rankin's wonderfully crafted vocals that ghost over the album in a haunting fashion.
Support on their UK tour comes from Louisville band White Reaper, with Kevin Morby adding extra support at their huge Shepherds Bush Empire show on September 11th.
